ACE Information- High School

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO SIGN FOR ACE? 

Caprock High School students entering by September 30th of their 9th grade year.

 WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
  • Students and Parents/Guardians must sign the ACE pledge before September 30th of freshman year and re-sign annually while in high school.  The signing process reaffirms students' commitment to their high school education and ACE standards.   
  • Remain continuously enrolled at Caprock until graduation
  • Graduate from Caprock High School within four years
  • Graduate from Caprock High School with a minimum of the following:
    • Graduating Class of 2016 and beyond: Overall 85 Cumlative GPA 
    • Graduating Classes of 2013-2015: Overall 80 Cumlative GPA
  • 95% attendance rate (Excused and unexcused absences count equally) 
  • Maintain appropriate behavior while in high school
  • Complete admission, financial aid, and scholarship requirements for Amarillo College and/or West Texas A&M University (WTAMU)
WHAT ABOUT CITIZENSHIP? 
  • For Class of 2014 and 2013
    • Citizenship of the United States of America must be obtained no later than two years from the date of either high school graduation or the student’s 18th birthday, whichever occurs last. 
    • Certification of citizenship must be proved to the Committee;  no scholarship can be awarded until the US citizenship is obtained. 
    • Students will become permanently ineligible unless the two-year requirement is met.  Once eligibility is met, contact the ACE office as soon as possible to request ACE eligibility.
  • For Class of 2015 and Beyond
    • To recieve the ACE scholarship, your child must be a US citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee. 
    • This must be proven by a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, or a permanent residency card by September 30th of the 9th grade year. 
    • Refugee/Asylum status must be proven by a permanent residency card or other documentation.

What does ACE offer me besides the scholarship? 

  • On going support during high school to encourage attendance and grades
  • Fieldtrips to colleges
  • Financial Aid workshops to assist in applying for federal student aid (FAFSA)
  • Assistance in completion of college enrollment applications
  • Special “ACE only” college class registration at Amarillo College
  • Special student services at Amarillo College and WTAMU
  • On going support for all ACE college students from the Caprock ACE office
  • ACE College Guide given to all ACE seniors to update and inform of important dates and requirements
HOW DO YOU SIGN UP FOR ACE?

Enter Caprock High School before September 30th of your 9th grade year and sign the ACE pledge. 

Students wishing to transfer to Caprock to participate in the ACE Scholarship Program may also contact the ACE office for further information.  Transfer paperwork must be submitted to Caprock by May 1st prior to the school year.
